The 80/220 sharpening puck from Adler has been specially developed to bring worn axes and hatchets back to life. Each puck is made in Germany and consists of ceramic with a uniform grain, which means that the stone grinds faster and no oil is required for sharpening. Made in Germany.

The 80 grit removes steel in a controlled manner for repairing chips and re-shaping blades from heavy use, while the 220 side refines the blade for additional sharpening, or keeping the edge maintained. It’s the perfect combination for repairing your blade by hand, without having to worry about damaging the steel’s temper on a bench grinder or other automatic sharpening device.

Included with each sharpening stone is a German made rubber band, which provides additional grip when manipulating the stone. The band is removable and can be used for a variety of outdoor or everyday carry applications. While gloves are highly recommended, the recessed finger grooves and band combination will keep your hand positioned well above the cutting plane for a secure grip throughout the sharpening process.

Application: The coarse side is used when the blade has become nicked or dull. Use the fine side to maintain a sharp edge. Work in a circular motion of the wrist/forearm over the curve of the blade from top to bottom. Sharpen both sides evenly and maintain the curve of the blade. Apply water to the sharpening puck to achieve better results.

Adler

High quality hatchets and robust garden tools.

With Adler tools they want to help you to discover your love for nature. Since 1919, they have been manufacturing high quality tools in the city of Waghäusel, Germany.

As one of the last tool manufacturers in Europe, Adler combine wood processing and forging under one roof. In doing so, they highly value sustainability: They exclusively use FSC®-certified European ash wood or original US hickory and water-based paints. Their entire company is heated by wood chips that are a by-product of their own production.
